Lelio Padovani was born in Parma, a small town in northern Italy.

He began playing as a kid on his elder sister's nylon string guitar, learning every Beatles song he could; he then played bass (influenced by The Who's John Enwhistle) and shortly drums before returning to guitar, playing in various local bands.
